Marco Bicego - Africa Collection

April 2011

Marco Bicego announces the new Africa collection of imaginative and evocative designs inspired by the magnificent and uncontaminated nature of Africa.

The fascinating imperfection of these yellow-gold jewels—similar to the imperfections found in the tribal jewels worn by African women—generate a warmth that evokes the colors of the sub-Saharan land.

Consisting of bold spheres of various shapes, sizes and finishes, the jewels of the Africa collection are tangible and pronounced, yet remarkably light. Marco Bicego has always been drawn to the natural beauty of the African continent, using unusual elements like baobab seeds from the heart of the African tropics and the stratified lava of Kilimanjaro to adorn the jewelry featured in shop windows and display counters.

The spotlight is on a carefully chosen selection of necklaces featuring golden spheres found in four different dimensions. The necklaces are complemented by matching bracelets, rings and earrings.

The ethnic feel is contemporary, refined and eclectic. The ancient art of hand engraving that distinguishes these creations is also used for the collection’s second line, a “carefree” adaptation characterized by longer chains up to 120cm with the addition of colored stones, such as tourmaline, quartz, amethyst and lemon citrine.
