Bulgari launches the new store window decor designed by the Italian designer Marco Piva. An exceptional production of almost 4,000 handmade ceramic sculptures shall dress approximately 1,000 Bulgari store windows worldwide.

Sinuous display cases in polished black and white ceramics – first seen at the Biennale des Antiquaires in Paris – provide a backdrop against which the jewellery stands out as the undisputed star. Thus the shop window, with its effective lighting and colour contrasts, such as the shantung panels in the exclusive Imperial Saffron coloured silk, becomes a stage in the midst of which the Bulgari creations reveal all their intense expressive power.

The ceramic elements create volumes that are inspired by elongated, sinuous and elegant women. Each element is created by the skilful hands of master ceramicists versed in the great tradition of Italian ceramics. For each vase on show in the Bulgari shop windows, another six were produced and then rejected because they didn’t match the extremely high standards of perfection of shape and quality required by the manufacturers.

The use of ceramics is well-rooted in the company’s extensive creative tradition. A high quality material, known since antiquity as “white gold”, porcelain has a great affinity with the world of jewellery and in 1993 played a major role in Bulgari’s Chandra collection creations which were entirely made out of ceramics. Chandra, which in Sanskrit means “moon”, links the magical light of these jewels to the magnetic fascination of the Earth’s satellite.

Further testimony of the endless search for an innovative and timeless style, the new jewel displays will be on show at all Bulgari stores worldwide.
