Muzo International, which mines Colombia’s most famous emerald deposits, joined together with Roualla D. to present a unique collection of jewels at the “Rêveries” exhibition in Geneva, Switzerland.
This event gathered creative artists around a Roualla D. concept and the Colombian Muzo Emerald.
Muzo is a municipality in the Department of Boyacá in Colombia. In November of 2009, Muzo International, a branch of Texma Group, was awarded exclusive mining rights to the Muzo mines. The company launched a global operation which is mining, cutting, and polishing all newly produced Colombian emeralds from Muzo.
Muzo is known in Colombia as the world capital of emeralds. When compared to emeralds from other sources throughout the world, including those in other parts of Colombia, Muzo emeralds are prized for their size, their clarity and, above all, their ideal color. These characteristics make them the measure against which all other emeralds are judged.
Roualla D. : “This is a concept I have created based on two materials: the Muzo Emerald and gold, which both have an identity of their own. Rather than looking for things technical or scientific, I wanted Artist’s jewels in full spontaneity.
Each of those 15 unique models is a bridge between reality and dream, with a hair comb as the lead item in each collection symbolizing feminity. Each piece has its own distinct path, expressed in the creative gesture.
As beautiful things require time, collections are designed at intervals of eight months. A catalog and a set of poems accompany each collection. The first collection, Rêveries is symbolized by a calligraphic bookmark. The concept aims to be an opening to the world of art, with each collection containing one piece contributed by a different artist and crafted by the Roualla D. team.”
