Evoking the summer skies at the beach: Tanzanite, Morganite, Kunzite and Ruby

Constantin Wild - Exclusive colourful gemstones for the summer season

These four gemstones recall the summer sun setting over the sea, with sky and ocean turning from deep sapphire blue with violet, lilac and light pink hues to deep red, thus presenting a feast for the eyes.

Tanzanite (top): One size, one cut – two colours: Observed at different angles and especially with polarised light, the tanzanite appears alternately ultramarine or violet. This star-cut and oval-shaped stone weighs more than 50 carats.

Morganite (centre, left): Also known as ‘pink beryl’ or ‘rose beryl’, the morganite is a rare variety of beryl and is actually named after financier J. P. Morgan. Wild’s specimen captivates the observer with its oval shape and star cut.

Kunzite (centre, right): The kunzite stands out due to its clarity and fine colour. Especially the stones originating from Afghanistan, as Wild’s navette-shaped and star-cut specimen, display a rich, strong violet.

Ruby (bottom): Associated with love, passion and power, red is also the colour of the ruby, which is considered to be one of the four most precious gemstones. Sparkling in a star and step cut, this oval-shaped stone weighs 2 carats.

Like a hiking tour in the forest: Tsavorite Garnet, Green Tourmaline, Peridot, Canary Tourmaline and Mandarine Garnet

Covering the entire colour range of late summer forests, these five stones have a refreshing and invigorating effect on the senses, and feel like a fresh breeze after a cleaning rain shower.

Tsavorite Garnet (top): Originating from Tansania, the tsavorite garnet is a highly sought after variety of gem garnet. It is valuable both on account of its vivid, radiant green and its great brilliance. Wild’s star-cut, cushion-shaped specimen weighs 5 carats and is more than 10 millimetres long.

Green Tourmaline (centre, left): Tourmaline has a variety of colours and is therefore also referred to as the ‘gemstone of the rainbow’. One particularly popular variety is the green tourmaline. Wild is offering gemstone lovers an emerald green, cushion-shaped specimen originating from Brazil and weighing more than 25 carats.

Peridot (centre, right): The beguilingly green and very clear peridot, also known as ’chrysolite’ or goldstone, embellishes sacred objects and churches, including the Shrine of the Three Kings in Cologne Cathedral. This cushion-shaped, star-cut specimen is almost 20 millimetres long and weighs more than 40 carats.

Canary Tourmaline (centre, middle): Weighing more than 25 carats, Wild’s canary tourmaline is not only fantastically beautiful, but above all extremely rare, as specimens of more than 5 carats are much sought after on the market and very hard to find. With its oval star cut, this stone makes pulses race.

Mandarine Garnet (bottom): The mandarine garnet has only been known in the gemstone trade for 20 years, but it’s already a much feted star. And it’s not just the colour of the stone that is incomparable, but also its shine. Apart from that, the orange gemstone is very rare, and larger specimens of more than 5 carats are really special. Again, Wild presents a hard-to-find stone with over 15 carats and modified brilliant cut.
