Victor Mayer - Tropical zest for life

Genuine fire enamel in the finest colour gradients lends the floral decor of these lockets a three-dimensional effect. A romantic mood is evocative of motifs of Paul Gauguin, symbolising moments of tranquillity und inner contemplation – inspiration for dreaming far beyond the bustle of the urban jungle.

The floral motifs are inspired by the decorations of the English designer William Morris. His creations for textile designs not only influenced the Victorian era, they can still be found in many interpretations today. Inspired in turn by Medieval art, their appearance is contemporary and full of warmth – in contrast to the functional sobriety of classical Modernism.

The Tropicana collection by Victor Mayer consists of lockets, produced with an unusual degree of craftsmanship. Perhaps only the wearer knows that these sleek pendants can also be opened. A clever mechanism inside acts as a frame for two photographs. Each locket is a trove for personal memories. A companion, loaded with individual significance.

Expressive colour gradients in fire enamel are carefully applied by hand using the so-called Basse-taille technique. The artist creates a low-relief pattern in metal. Tiny bars of gold delineate each field, providing the overall impression of the motif. In two models the cool-looking, organic diamond pavée creates a dramatic contrast to the colour of the enamel. The reverse side of the lockets is equally adorned with enamels over floral motives. The lockets are available in three sizes and come in a wide range of colour combinations.
