German Award for Jewellery & Precious Stones Idar-Oberstein 2017

Stefanie Dingel, Veitsrodt, Germany

Ring made of rhodium silver combined with rock crystal and aquamarine

The jury expressed the opinion that this gemstone ring is the mise-en- scène of a perfect illusion. The outstanding entry to this year’s main competition consists of a round, faceted aquamarine which moves freely in a silver hemisphere. A thin disk of rock crystal is used as a cover to prevent the aquamarine from turning over. The silver b owl is covered by a rock crystal hemisphere, whose upper surface has been flat tened and frosted. The movement of the aquamarine gives he observer the visual impression of softly and gently rippling water.
