Lalique pays tribute to the Palais Garnier Opera

Lalique pays tribute to the Palais Garnier Opera

4 October 2019

The new Lalique Jewellery collections celebrate the Opéra national de Paris. Inspired by the repertoire, architecture and décor of the Palais Garnier Opera, these pieces deliver novel adornments with coloured crystal crafting that intermingles deep black and opalescent white. An assortment of the Maison’s iconic designs - Cabochon, Aréthuse and Muguet are now available on a new stackable, flexible bracelet that is easy to wear.

Maison Lalique draws its inspiration from Mozart’s most celebrated opera; The Magic Flute composing this fine jewellery collection crafted in white gold, diamonds and crystal cabochons.

This five-jewel set interprets the play of emotions and plot turns in the famous opera. Like the score and amid the shadow and the light, the jewels exhibit an essence of black and white in a compelling double play. Lalique reveals the know-how of its crystal demonstrated in the gleam of the two cabochons highlighted by striated carvings. These diamond-set cabochons in mysterious opalescent white and intense black are finished with pearls and fine stones. Onyx, Akoya beads and black diamonds evoke the depth of the night. Agate, freshwater cultured pearls and white diamonds symbolize the brilliance of the day. The long necklace and pendant are reversible - opalescent white embodies daytime, while black symbolizes night. The earrings offer asymmetrical wear.

Performed several times in the repertoire of the Opéra national de Paris, The Magic Flute is the last opera, and arguably Mozart’s most famous composition.

The Aréthuse collection reinvents itself in an unprecedented rendition designed to celebrate the Paris Opera. Lalique delivers a set of six glimmering jewels in red and gold vermeil as a tribute to the stories told on and beneath the stage.

Aréthuse is revealed for the first time in black crystal with a repolished satin finish, set in gold vermeil. The perfect square motif portrays the mask of a woman coiffed with fish and highlighted with half-circles of red resin. This new version interpreted with Art Deco lines refers to the mysterious lake of the Opera Garnier and the iconic colour of its performance hall.

Located in the heart of the Palace’s architectural foundation, the lake was designed by Charles Garnier ten meters below stage. Immersed in darkness, this ingenious structure designed to stabilize the palace has fuelled many legends since its inception.

These flexible new bracelets play duet motifs on an open bangle in sterling silver. Worn alone or stacked, the Cabochon, Aréthuse and Muguet motifs are easy to wear and slip on the wrist with perfect form and flexibility.

The new shape is available in the Cabochon collection in a vibrant range of shades (red, deep green, Cap-Ferrat blue, opalescent and black). The bracelet is also complimentary to the Aréthuse collection – with the iconic motif rendered in satin finished and repolished crystal; as well as the Muguet collections with iconic floral bells in shiny clear crystal and a white powder heart. Each bracelet is available in two sizes.
