The 27th Intergem (30th Sept. – 3rd Oct. 2011), the trade fair for gemstones and jewellery in Idar-Oberstein, is one of the most important events in the industry, because the fair takes place in the heart of the gemstone region.

Purchasers and jewellers from around the world await this year’s Intergem with anticipation. With the recovery of the market for luxury goods, the prices for diamonds and gemstones have strongly increased over the past 12 months. High-quality gemstones in particular are in demand and most rarities can certainly be found only at the fair. The impulses sent out by Idar-Oberstein and its gemstone experts are sure to shape the future development of the market.
Last year some 3700 visitors from around the world came to see 176 exhibitors at Intergem . Almost every booth is already booked for this year’s edition. Everyone with a reputation within the industry will once again attend. An important aspect is the unique concentration of top-notch companies presenting at the fair. These mostly regional companies, which are, of course, nevertheless active at international level, can only be found together at INTERGEM. Furthermore, the exhibition teems with superlatives: the latest stone findings from all over the world, the most innovative cut from internationally respected masters, the most fascinating pearls and the most exciting jewellery creations made with gemstones of the highest quality.

Traditional companies from Germany and abroad, creative young designers, the big names in the gemstone industry as well as service-providers to the industry exhibit on a 5000 sqm exhibition area. Once again there will be a comprehensive supporting programme. Professional lectures on topical matters will inform trade visitors about current developments. A fair party with top acts from the international music scene will entertain guests. In hall 2.2 local gemmological institutions can be found and the professional schools for jewellery and gemstone design will present their work. Young designers will introduce themselves at community booths. The INTERGEM is an excellent networking platform for the industry, educational institutions and up-and-coming gemstone professionals.
