According to the 2015 Global Powers of Luxury Goods report of global consultancy firm Deloitte Touche Totmatsu Ltd, China and Hong Kong were the runaway leaders in composite luxury sales growth in 2013, with 33.4 percent growth. Chinese and Hong Kong companies registered the fastest growth in luxury sales in 2013. Besides, China recorded a 10.7-percent hike in retail sales of gold, silver and jewellery in May 2015, said latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics of China. As a gateway to China’s robust jewellery market, Hong Kong is ideally positioned to host world-class fine jewellery events such as the September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair.

The September Fair is now on its 33rd edition and continues enjoy resounding support from industry players. Exhibitors and buyers acknowledge that the fair is an excellent trading and networking platform as well as an effective channel to tap into the Asian market, including the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong markets. Buyers could find just about anything at the September Fair in terms of design and material – from simple silver pieces to luxurious diamond and gemstone creations.

This year’s September Fair is scheduled from 16 to 20 September 2015 at AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) and from 18 to 22 September 2015 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). This edition is bigger and even better with the addition of more exhibitors. Compared with last year, this year’s lineup features over 3,700 exhibitors from 50 countries and regions in more than 135,000 square metres of exhibition space.

“We expect to welcome around 60,000 visitors from all over the world throughout the fair’s seven-day run. Participants can expect the same business-friendly environment and reliable and professional services that have become the hallmarks of UBM Asia’s fairs over the past several years,” said Sunny Chan, Deputy Fair Manager, Jewellery Fairs, UBM Asia.

“New attractions at the Fair include exhibitors from Latvia, Myanmar and Qatar. In addition, the September Fair will also debut the Bridal Jewellery Pavilion. “The new addition will gather one-of-a-kind bridal masterpieces and the classics from esteemed suppliers and gifted designers from around the world. Whether traditional or contemporary pieces, the Bridal Jewellery Pavilion is sure to cater to every bride’s fantasy,” Mr Chan continued.

World-class participants

The September Fair enjoys the highest participation of key players in the world’s jewellery trade. This year, a group under the new South Africa Pavilion will debut their creations. Their coming on board brings to the number of 23 group pavilions at this edition spanning over two world-class venues. The rest are companies from Antwerp, Brazil, mainland China, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the United States, and the International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA).

The Alrosa Group, Russia’s leading diamond company and the world’s biggest diamond miner by volume, will continue to host its diamond auction at the September Fair at AWE. Meanwhile, the Paspaley Pearl Auction and Robert Wan Tahiti Perles Auction will be held in conjunction with the Fair in HKCEC. The Fair will again feature the world’s largest Diamond Pavilion, Asia’s biggest Gemstone marketplace and the biggest display of Hong Kong jewellery in the world.

AWE will display jewellery raw materials from around 1,700 local and overseas exhibitors, while HKCEC will showcase fine finished jewellery from around 2,000 international fine jewellery exhibitors.

Exciting special events

Press Conference

The Fair press conference will be held on 18 September from 11:00am to 12:30pm in Meeting Rooms S226-227 of the HKCEC. Heads of invite jewellery associations will share their views on the developments in the jewellery trade, while the Senior Vice President of UBM Asia will announce the latest developments in UBM’s jewellery fairs business in global markets.

Fair Receptions

To celebrate the grand opening of the Fair at AWE and HKCEC, two fair receptions will be held:

1) AWE Welcome Reception - Organised by UBM Asia and sponsored by the Israel Diamond Institute (IDI), the Fair Reception will be held on 16 September at the Hong Kong SkyCity Marriott Hotel.

2) HKCEC Welcome Reception - Organised by UBM Asia, the Fair Reception will be held on 18 September at the Grand Foyer of HKCEC.

Diamond Auction

Diamond Auction by Alrosa Group will be held from 16 to 20 September at AWE. Admission is by invitation only.

Pearl Auction

Two world-renowned pearl auctions, the Robert Wan Tahiti Perles Auction and Paspaley South Sea Pearl Auction, will be held from 14 to 15 September and 21 to 23 September at HKCEC, respectively. Admission is by invitation only.

Admission to the Fair

The Fair is open to the jewellery trade professionals and members of the press. Free admission will be granted to visitors who present their business cards or official invitation together with Hong Kong Identity Card/ Exit-entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macau/ National passport. Visitors under 18 will not be admitted.

Important Notice: To strengthen the security measures, all attendees shall present a valid photo identity document for on-site identity verification before entering the halls. The Organiser reserves the right to refuse admission and forfeit the admission badge.
