CJA Announces 2011 Scholarship Recipients

The California Jewelers Association (CJA) announceS two outstanding scholarship recipients for 2011.

Adrian B. Blanco, Manager of de Luna Jewelers in Davis, California has been selected as the CJA Peter Hess Scholarship recipient. This prestigious scholarship is named in memory of former CJA President Peter Hess. Shintia J. Lynch is the CJA Robert B. Westover Scholarship recipient. This coveted annual scholarship is named in honor of former CJA Executive Vice President Robert B. Westover. Adrian B. Blanco has worked for de Luna Jewelers for the past 12 years. He is currently enrolled in the Gemological Institute of America to complete his Associate Jewelry Professional (AJP) Degree and Graduate Gemologist Degree (GG).

Shintia J. Lynch was born in Jakarta, Indonesia and came to the United States with her two older siblings when she was 16 to study abroad. She studied marketing and public relations at Sahid Djaya Hotel Management School in Indonesia, and later studied business administration for two years at Staryer University in Washington, DC. Lynch then decided to move to New York for several years before relocating to Southern California where she worked as a professional model and studied Fashion Merchandising at Brooks College in Long Beach,California. After graduating she worked as a stylist at Entertainment Tonight in Los Angeles for two years. Fashion has always been Shintia’s dream but she fell in love with jewelry and is currently continuing her studies at the Gemological Institute of America. Most recently, Lynch was as a high-end jewelry consultant with Black, Starr and Frost in Costa Mesa and Tiffany & Co.
