Oscar Heyman - The Brooch is Back

October 2012

Brooches are part of history. The earliest known brooches are from the Bronze Age and were designed to hold garments closed. Men eventually used them to adorn their hats and from the 18th century onwards women adopted brooches as elegant ornaments for their clothes.

This season, the brooch is beloved, appearing in all forms from demure to bold across the runways in New York and Europe.

The best thing about brooches is their versatility. A brooch makes a fabulous focal point for any look. They can add a feminine touch to a classic tailored suit, pinned neatly on the breast of a blouse or jacket, or they can provide a chic, modern look to become the entire focus of a simple all black outfit.
