Ulysse Nardin - Classico Lady Grand Feu

April 2017

The Classic collection of Ulysse Nardin honors the beauty of charm of women with the Classico Lady Grand Feu, possessing a translucent enamel dial in four different shades to dazzle and delight.

Innovation and tradition are united in the Classic collection, in which the fine art of enameling is highlighted through classically refined styling. The Classico Lady Grand Feu continues to navigate this path with breathtaking aplomb. The UN-815 self-winding movement boasts characteristic precision performance, and drives a timepiece with a delicately hand-crafted enamel dial.

Ulysse Nardin was instrumental in reviving this almost lost art, integrating enamel specialists Donzé Cadrans into the Ulysse Nardin family. Meticulous craftsmen continue a centuries-old tradition of fusing enamel powder in a kiln heated between approximately 760 and 900°C. The term “Grand Feu”, which means “Great Fire” in French, comes from this incredible heat.

Using a guilloche silver plate gives the enamel a finely rippled appearance which recalls Ulysse Nardin’s profound connection to the sea. Usually white or beige in color, the limited edition dials on the Lady Grand Feu are crafted in an array of delicate hues, and have a translucid quality which requires an even more complex process than is usual for Grand Feu. The enamel powder required to produce such colored dials is limite d within the Donze Cadrans reserve. As a result, only a handful of these colored Lady Grand Feu editions are available.

Held in a shining white gold case, the limited edition Grand Feu dials here are blue, lavender, seafoam green or pewter grey, and have chic matching straps. Because of their mastery of this difficult art, Donzé Cadrans enamel dials are highly sought after by collectors around the world. In these gloriously feminine timepieces, their breathtaking enamel beauty is highlighted by exquisite diamonds encrusted on the bezel and lugs of each piece.
