DDI supported by Todd Reed

June 2012

The Diamond Development Initiative (DDI) announces that the organization has received a generous financial contribution from renowned jewelry designer Todd Reed. His gift places him in the Millennium Star level of the Friends of DDI campaign.

“I’ve been searching for a way to support the concept of ethically mined and socially responsible diamonds for years,” says Reed, president and CEO of Todd Reed, Inc. “When I learned of the work of DDI, I knew I had found an organization that will not only help the millions of artisanal diamond miners out in the field, but will also have a significant impact on the industry I love. I’m proud and honored to contribute to DDI’s on-the-ground projects, which are an engine for sustainable development in some of the most marginalized regions of the diamond mining world.”

“We are thrilled with Todd’s contribution,” says Dorothée Gizenga, executive director of the DDI. “Donations from someone with Todd’s stature as a respected designer and businessman reinforce the value our organization provides to the jewelry industry.”

DDI brings the jewelry and diamond industry, non-governmental organizations, and governments together in a common effort to ensure that diamonds are an engine for positive economic and social development in communities where diamonds are sourced in Africa and South America. Todd Reed was founded in 1992 with the concept of launching a fine jewelry line designing with raw, uncut diamonds and recycled metals.
