Jewelers Mutual Insurance introduces an updated JM University

August 2015

When Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company first launched JM University® in 2005, jewelers had, for the first time, an online resource for safety and security training. This month, Jewelers Mutual is proud to introduce an updated JM University which will continue to provide potentially life-saving instruction in a convenient, accessible, online platform.

“Our first priority in creating the new JM University platform was to continue providing our members and their associates with easy access to ‘Danger on the Road’ and ‘Selling with Security,’” said Mark Cumicek, director of loss prevention at Jewelers Mutual. “These two courses are time-tested with important tips to help keep jewelers safe, and now they’re even easier to access and share with a jewelry business’ entire staff.”

The new JM University uses Litmos, which is a leading learning management system. The reconfigured courses “Danger on the Road” and “Selling with Security” are the first of many loss prevention training topics Jewelers Mutual plans to share with its policyholder members using the new online platform.

In addition to a more user-friendly and responsive user experience, the new platform provides jewelers with oversight allowing them to easily monitor staff training. Jewelers have found it a useful tool to include in staff onboarding and training materials. With the click of a mouse, jewelers and store managers can know results in real time and evaluate and address any areas of concern.

“Even the most experienced sales professional can use a refresher on selling jewelry and traveling with safety and security in mind,” said Cumicek. “All it takes is one mistake, one moment of vulnerability, for criminals to strike. We want our members to be as well-informed as possible, and the new JM University is a great tool to test your security knowledge and skills.”

Access to JM University is a benefit offered to Jewelers Mutual policyholders, as part of an extensive loss prevention library of resources.
